Note from Gillian: The Power of Thanks

All cultures evolve, some devolve, with new goals, morals, standards, freedoms and restrictions. Some who participate in these evolutions approach changes from different perspectives. There are the Rebels, who for the sake of their own passion or vision, will ignore any and all aspects of the current culture, whether beneficial or not, and loudly broadcast a different culture only for the sake of being the source of a ‘new’ change. One could say this is egotistical only if it is done for personal gain, self-recognition or greed. There are the Thoughtful, who appreciate all who have come before, study the strengths and weaknesses, and chose to make gentle recommendations to share the earlier strengths, repair the weaknesses and gently offer a culture that can introduce improvements, easily acceptable by all. Here we find the pure artist, the philosopher, the leader who sees a bettered future and realizes the gradients are needed to successfully accomplish a culture evolution.

Either approach is often accompanied by protocol shifts, education, and for some, indoctrination. Either methodology often gains quick acceptance by the early adapters, leaving the rest of society to gradually incorporate any change, as it aligns to their world and reality.

In my research I have identified yet another solution that truly can not only change one’s life, one’s company, one’s world, but also one’s culture. It is exciting that at least one day a year, we acknowledge this ingenuous yet simple life-changer.

It is the power of thanks. When one gives thanks, one acknowledges the very soul and beingness of an individual, an idea, an attribute of animate as well as inanimate objects. The power of thanks, sincerely bestowed, allows time, and culture to move forward. The power of thanks creates connectivity between the giver and the receiver that carries no baggage, no expectations, no mis-emotion. The power of thanks clarifies one’s vision and perceptions to see things as they are, not as one wants them to be, allowing a real launch pad for change and evolution. The power of thanks can heal old wounds, span crevasses, re-ignite failed purposes or once buried ideas. The power of thanks is so easily bestowed, and never wasted. Enjoy your freedom to give thanks.

We are thankful to have you in our community and give thanks for all you do to make the world better, Thanksgiving and every day!
