Note from Gillian: Staying the Course

With the whirlwind of activity in each of our lives – family, work, health issues, community, and now the maelstrom of politics fueled by media, to many it may seem challenging, even exhausting to focus beyond the immediate demands.

Children’s school schedules, sports, play dates, these are all important, but can capture much of one’s time and attention.

Work is also important, not only to accomplish the company’s goals but to fund life and living for self and others. However, work can so often cause sleepless nights, short tempers, and grey hair, especially fueled by rapid changes in technologies, the pressures of inflation, and a myriad of challenges from bureaucracy to funding and beyond. And there is one’s own health – where constant marketing of quick solutions deters one from developing a wellness program that gives the daily energy to play the game.

With the busyness of daily life, one barely can squeeze in a moment of reflection and spirituality. Though this may actually help empower us to address this whirlwind and find calm in the storm, acknowledging the importance of one’s faith is often overlooked. I truly believe we all have innate dreams and core values, lighthouses that are the beacons in the storm of life.

It is important to revisit these, to ensure you stay the course, re-align periodically, shed the superfluous, and refresh your moral compass. It is your life – a precious opportunity to accomplish heroic feats or moments of happiness.

Jon Bon Jovi shared: “You just stay the course, and do what it is that you do, and grow while you’re doing it. Eventually, it will either come full circle, or at least you’ll go to bed at night happy.”

Staying the course requires some key elements:

  • A destination defined
  • A functioning ship
  • Knowledge of direction, ship maintenance, good and well-directed management
  • A study of conditions – current and future
  • Necessary supplies
  • Persistence and perseverance
  • Confronting the challenges
  • Enjoying the journey
  • Acknowledging the success of all who contributed
  • Inspiring others to Stay the Course

Business is a journey and Christie & Co understands the intricacies of staying the course, and taking your dream to mainstream. We can work to help remove distractions, keep your ship functioning, motivate your team,  identify the supplies truly needed, and help you make it to your destination. Stay the course, we are here to help you win.
