Note from Gillian: Freedom to Create

Many plow through life thinking that the end justifies the means, that your efforts will be thwarted by forces out of your control, that your work is only to subsidize your daily needs, that the C-Suite is more than an office and that if retirement is just around the corner, why innovate or work harder.

If that cloud is hanging around, it is time to take a step back and re-assess why you get up in the morning, asses your life agenda, your raison d’etre.

Yes, we all survive, at some level- some with enthusiasm and drive- staring down sleepless nights to develop a new idea- some with a self-important attitude that yesterday they were famous because they summitted another ‘14’ so today they must famous though lacking any new accomplishment. Then there are some who gently go through life quietly helping where needed, sharing their wealth of knowledge and kindness indiscriminately, seeking no glory, satisfied that they have lived and served.

Thankfully in America, the clouds can pass. We have freedom to choose and live our own lifestyle, we have freedom to travel, freedom of speech, freedom to listen, learn and make our own decision, and best of all, we have the freedom to create.

And in this freedom, creativity can be endless. You can develop a new simple soda in South Africa, like PURA, and share with the world and help people live a little PURA every day. You can create a new form of nutrition for humans and pets by wild harvesting seaweed in Maine, like Vitamin Sea, or grow the most delicious blueberries in Yakima, Washington,  on your family farm and create a new frozen creamy delicacy called Sorbatto Creamy Blue. Or you can Inspire Adventure with delicious trail food like Trailtopia.

But no one said creativity was going to be easy, that there would be no challenges, that every day would be perfect. Creativity adds excitement to life. Creativity is that magical moment of unique thought, woven together with an undeterred passion to bring it to fruition and the satisfaction knowing your perseverance and determination will bring success.

Those who wake up every day with a twinkle in their eye and head off on another creative adventure are truly the masters of the universe, the icing on the (gluten-free) cake, the effervescence of life.

And if there is a cloud over your dreams, we are here to help, as we have helped many and when your twinkle has been regained, your creativity in full bloom, likely you will help others.
