This past year has been a roller coaster ride for many, causing exhilaration on one side and angst on the other. The stock market continues to soar, with gold and silver reaching record prices, while tariffs alter the world of international trade.
AI-powered systems assisted doctors in diagnosing diseases, predicting patient outcomes, and developing personalized treatment plans. However, according to a Harvard study, AI can hinder education when students are overcommitted and use AI as a time-saving solution that limits their personal interaction with their learning. Additionally, AI is causing job displacement with the prediction that it will likely replace 40% of the current jobs, from manufacturing, retail, accounting, and, yes, journalism, creativity, and marketing. It is causing uncertainty for many, whose futures are being rapidly altered by an unseen technology whose origins and governance are unclear.
But let me share a recent cognition I had while on Poetry Peak, capturing my thoughts from that 360-degree perch. As we all venture through life, we have wins. We have challenges. We have losses. We have hopes and aspirations. We have family, friends, and faith. We have communities, nations, earth, and space. We can learn to communicate, to inspire, and to be inspired. Our lives are evolving every day, shaped by experiences, new insights, and the wisdom gained through observation and learning. The secret to happiness and success is that there is no need, nor time, to regret unfulfilled dreams, to mourn a love lost, or to be envious of others.
Today, venture into a new realm, where there are no regrets, only the fundamental agreement that the future you imagine, that you want, is in your hands. You have the ability and personal power to make it a reality.
New Year’s resolutions may be a great excuse to binge on that last holiday cream-filled, sugar-coated pastry. Still, resolutions often are forgotten by February, when those Valentine’s candies appear.
This year, picture the future you want – for yourself, for your family and friends, for your business, for society, and planet Earth. See the attainment of your futures as an adventure, play with the challenges like a dog plays endlessly with its favorite ball. Throw regrets and memories of a loss to the wind.
Your future, your dreams, your aspirations come from you, not technology. Create like there’s no restriction, and you’ll smile tomorrow at the sparkle that is now the future you imagined.
And if you need help with lighting up that sparkle, give us a call.
Happy New Year. Happy Future!
Gillian
