It seems that every device we turn on inundates us with bad news from violence, terrorists, disease, celebrity scandal, and conflict. In business, the deluge continues with fluctuating stock markets, endless government regulations, rapid changes in the sales and distribution channels, price wars. And media is there endlessly feeding us this barrage of bad news. We all want to do something about it, but sometimes it can feel overwhelming to figure out where to start.
Intrinsically, we all want to care for each victim, find ways to help, address the business challenges with logical and beneficial solutions, and ensure success without compromise. There is a point where it feels like our empathy hits overload and it begins to feel as though there is nothing we can do to help.
Through a culmination of conversations recently, I have found that so many feel a deep desire for quieter times and simple, easy comforts in business, in life, and even in one’s diet. A growing trend I’ve seen at recent trade shows was an increase in traditional comfort foods, made with healthier and more sustainable ingredients, and a back to basics approach to the comfort of real health. From southern biscuits from Mason-Dixie to fresh, hand-picked Non-GMO blueberries from award-winning Camposol to beverages based on heritage recipes like those from Up Mountain Switchel and their new refreshing Swizzle, there is comfort in real foods and connections.
Comfort in business comes from setting realistic goals, having the right team who aligns with your core purpose and shares your enthusiasm, from your internal team to your vendors, investors and especially your agency, yes, Christie & Co shares your enthusiasm.
Finding comfort in life can be found in a loving relationship, a great adventure, time with family, a delicious meal, a beautiful garden.
I discovered a solution that can be done anywhere at any time to help alleviate the negativity we seem to be inundated with so frequently enabling us to do something about it and bring comfort to others. It is call an MOA – A Moment of Admiration. It’s simple, the truth always is. An MOA is an authentic acknowledgement of something good – someone’s smile, an act of kindness, a job well done, a discovery large or small. An MOA will reduce stress, relieve tension and actually melt the current focus on bad news and cynicism. Will an MOA stop war, bring the bad guys to their knees, help Mother Earth return to her full glory, I’m still researching, but know that step by step, we can continue to imbue good into the world. Give it a try. And if you need an MOA, give me a call. We not only admire you and your dreams, we help take them to Mainstream.
