Note from Gillian: Giving Thanks

Thanksgiving is a joyous time
  When gratitude coalesces
And gives many the inspiration to give thanks.

Make every day Thanksgiving
Thank the earth
  Upon which we run
    Upon which we plant
Upon which to admire its vistas.

Thank the bees
Who pollinate our flowers and crops
And share their harvest as honey.

Thank your family
Who share love, laughter, challenges and creativity
Who share adventures, care and thoughtfulness.

Thank your friends
  For creating life together
For fighting for all that’s important
For being themselves each with unique creativity and yes, love, no matter what.

Thank the rocks
  That are our mountains
    That become our sculptures,
      Our roads, homes and art
And capture our history through time.

Thank all who serve
  To guide, protect, teach, listen
As they are the glue of our culture.

Thank the philosophers
  Who provide futures
    With their perceptions, observations
And willingness to be responsible for change.

Thank the inventors, architects, and engineers
  That build solutions
For others to live healthier, easier, happier
For their endless curiosity and willingness to experiment.

Thank the sky and space
  That decorates itself
    With sunrises, sunsets and rainbows
  That dances with the wind
      And carries the sweet scents.

Thank the sun
  For our warmth,
    For feeding our plants
      For giving us colors
        And yes, for shadows.

Thank all who love to work
To share their creativity through their efforts
To contribute to the goals of others
      To stand back with pride
For a job well done I

Thank the poets
  Who value thought
And see the art of words
      Well-chosen and well placed.

Thank the ethical leaders
  Who build futures through guiding
    The efforts of others
      And often are unsung heroes.

I thank you
For working every day
To make the world better.
