Note from Gillian: Changing Up

We accept change daily, in a multitude of ways. With the change of the seasons, we see our green garbed silvan woods change to red and yellow; the days shortening and the weather cooling. We stop by our favorite coffee shop and our summer cold brews are now decorated with pumpkin spiced froth.

At work, we see change forward, as well as change back. For many, the pandemic has created unpredictable change, in every aspect of life, from where we work to what career we want now. Some want to change back to the closer connections fostered in the workplace to share with one’s teammates from laughter and brainstorming to discussing how to overcome challenges, pivot and build meaningful growth.

Change is truly the continuum of the life cycle: start-change-stop. Change can provide fresh ideas, innovative solutions, new tech and once-hidden opportunities. Without change, dormancy takes over.

So, if change is vital, how can one differentiate and evaluate the correct changes needed, not just the new ‘flavor of the month’ to ensure continuous success?

Possibly these criteria, once implemented, will help clarify the change you need when it comes to your brand:

  1. Review your current brand with eyes wide open to verify the necessity to change.
  2. Refresh your awareness of your different audiences and communities as likely they too have been changing. This can be accurately accomplished with our proprietary Conversion Market Research.
  3. Review your mission, vision and values statements to see if they still align to your original purpose. Revert or refresh. This can also be an opportunity to consider a new play forward to additional relevant associations, certificates, or giving.
  4. With these steps completed, change forward in all touch points of you brand. Your evolution of change can be enlightening as well as expansive.

You never change things by fighting the existing reality.
To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete
