Everyone needs a relief valve. Mine is running in our beautiful mountains from our home toward La Cumbre Peak, regularly.
This past Saturday, thanks to a culmination of summer sunshine and our marine-inversion layer, my peak to peak became stifling hot. Not one to turn back, I powered on to my meditation spot, passing on the way up a couple enjoying the views of our backcountry as well as out over the islands along our coast.
A while later, on my return run, they passed in their F150 and the female driver yelled,” You got this, girl!” A nice acknowledgment, but this got me thinking.
We are all faced with unpredictable challenges- a lost contract, unexpected closures, distribution glitches. These challenges cause exhaustion and frustration. You can feel less productive. What worked yesterday may not be the best solution today. You’ve made repetitive attempts to be nimble, pivoting to a possible new direction, a new solution, yet feel it is not working.
Like running, exhaustion comes simply from becoming enmeshed in a confusion. Yesterday’s solutions don’t address today’s unpredictable issues. The answer- perseverance, belief in yourself and your core values, trust your inner wisdom and ability to know what is right. You WILL make your goals- whether it is a big contract or making it to the finish line.
Like my passerby said- “You Got This!”
